Updating the Firmware

The MPVI Interface has firmware update capabilities built in.
If a new firmware update is available for your interface, you will be prompted to update the interface when you start scanning a vehicle in VCM Scanner or you read or write a vehicle in VCM Editor.

The firmware update is a pretty painless process.
If the firmware update fails, you can still remove all power from the interface and recover it without any problems.


Firmware Update Steps:

  1. Plug the interface into the PC but not the vehicle.
  2. Unplug all other USB devices from the PC.
  3. Do not disturb the PC or Interface during the update. The update can take between 10 and 20 seconds to complete.
  4. Click Begin to start the update process.
  5. If the update fails, please unplug the interface from the PC and then plug it back in. Wait 10 seconds and then click Begin to try again.
